Eli Cecil (b. 1988, Frederick, MD; B.F.A. Salisbury University, 2012) is a south Florida glass artist currently working and residing in Palm Beach County.
Much of Cecil’s work orbits the dialogue of a conscious and sustainable future. His Bonsai series shares a glimpse of the balancing act between humanity and nature. The resilience and balance of each bonsai tree allows the audience a sense of emotion between nature and themself. This “Zen” is personified through the movement and color of each sculpture. The reoccurring theme of growth proves the importance of each generation and questions the legacy they leave on the next.
In 2018 the Imagine Museum recognized Cecil with the “Artist of the Future Award.” This same year the Duncan McClellan Gallery awarded him with an “Emerging Artist Residency” in St. Petersburg Florida. Cecil also presented at the Glass Art Society National Conference “Charting a Course to the Future” in 2019 and continues to create and exhibit work with many prestigious galleries in the U.S.
He is currently the Resident Artist at the Benzaiten Creative Arts Center in Palm Beach, Florida.
