Nancy Sutcliffe is a distinguished glass artist known for her exquisite engravings and gilding on optical crystal blocks, vessels, wall panels, and mirrors. Born in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, UK, in 1957, Sutcliffe initially trained as a medical illustrator, a background that profoundly informs her detailed and precise artistic style.

Early Life and Education

Nancy Sutcliffe graduated with a BA Hons in Design from North Staffs Polytechnic in 1979. Her early career saw her employed as a medical and technical illustrator at various institutions, including the Open University and Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School. In 1994, she transitioned to glass painting and sandblasting, eventually focusing on glass engraving from 2004 onwards.
